HAIR GROWTH BRANDS

Launch a hair growth brand on Tessic Health

Tessic Health runs the clinic behind a hair growth brand. Licensed providers review photos and history and prescribe in all 50 states, generic and compounded treatments fill at wholesale cost, and patients buy through a storefront with your name on it. Hair treatment runs for years, so the category rewards a clinic that keeps patients on a steady refill.

CLINICAL

What your hair growth patients get

Hair programs run on photos: an intake that shows the provider the pattern of loss, and check-ins that show whether treatment is working.

  1. 01

    Intake with scalp photos

Patients upload scalp photos from set angles along with their history. Providers grade the pattern of loss and rule out causes that need an in-person exam, such as sudden patchy loss or scarring.

  2. 02

    Plans for men and women

Men are treated for male pattern hair loss. Women are treated for female pattern hair loss with options that suit their age and any plans for pregnancy.

  3. 03

    Pregnancy and side-effect screening

Finasteride and dutasteride can harm a male fetus, so they are not prescribed to women who are or may become pregnant. Providers review sexual side effects and mood history before prescribing finasteride.

  4. 04

    Heart screening for oral minoxidil

Low-dose oral minoxidil is a blood pressure drug used off-label for hair. Providers screen for heart conditions and low blood pressure before prescribing it.

  5. 05

    Photo check-ins

New photos at about three, six and twelve months show whether treatment is working, since visible results take months. Providers adjust the plan from what the photos show.

MEDICATIONS & PROTOCOLS

What your providers can prescribe

Left off the list on purpose

Each of these would put the brand's ad accounts, payment accounts or medical licenses at risk.

  • Finasteride for women who may become pregnant

Finasteride and dutasteride can cause birth defects in a male fetus. Women of childbearing potential are offered other options.

  • Supplements sold as treatment

Biotin and hair vitamins can be sold beside the program as supplements, but never as a prescription treatment or with claims that they treat hair loss.

  • In-office procedures

Platelet-rich plasma, microneedling and transplants need an in-person clinic and sit outside the telehealth protocol.

Every prescription is the treating provider's decision after an individual evaluation, and a listing here does not mean every patient qualifies. Off-label means FDA has not approved the drug for that use; providers may still prescribe it when clinically appropriate.

PHARMACY

How the medicine gets to patients

Oral hair medications cost a few dollars a month at wholesale, so a markup would be most of the medication cost. On Tessic it is zero.

01

Generics for oral treatment

Finasteride, oral minoxidil, dutasteride and spironolactone fill as FDA-approved generics through retail or mail-order pharmacies at wholesale cost.

02

503A for topicals

Topical finasteride and combination solutions are compounded by 503A pharmacies against a prescription for one patient, labeled with a beyond-use date.

03

Three- and six-month fills

Longer fills lower the shipping cost per month and match how long results take to show.

04

Plain, room-temperature shipping

Everything in the category ships at room temperature in plain packaging.

0%

Markup on every fill, on every plan

The brand is billed the pharmacy's wholesale invoice. Tessic adds nothing to the medication and takes no share of what the brand charges patients.

COMPLIANCE & ADVERTISING

The rules for selling hair growth treatment

What regulators and ad platforms check before a hair growth brand can sell and advertise.

What regulators check

  1. 01

    FDA's warning on topical finasteride

FDA has alerted providers, pharmacies and patients to the risks of compounded topical finasteride, citing reported side effects, and noted that it is not FDA-approved. Topical products need clear labeling and a provider's documented reason.

  2. 02

    Finasteride's label warnings

The finasteride label lists sexual side effects, depression and suicidal thoughts. The intake has to present them before the prescription, and marketing cannot play them down.

  3. 03

    Oral minoxidil is off-label

Oral minoxidil is FDA-approved for high blood pressure. Providers can prescribe it off-label for hair loss, but ads cannot present it as an approved hair treatment.

  4. 04

    Supplement claims

Supplements sold beside the program cannot claim to treat or prevent hair loss; under federal law that is a drug claim.

What ad platforms check

  1. 01

    Careful with before-and-after photos

Meta restricts before-and-after images that promise results, along with close-ups of thinning hair. Results photos on the brand's own site need a note on what typical patients see.

  2. 02

    No "cure" language

Claims such as "regrow a full head of hair" or "cure baldness" overstate what finasteride and minoxidil do. Ads can say treatment slows loss and regrows hair for many patients.

  3. 03

Talk about the treatment, never the viewer

"Losing your hair?" breaks Meta's personal-attributes rule. Ads describe the treatment and the provider review.

Rules for every category

  • LegitScript certification

Google, Meta and the major card processors check for LegitScript certification before a telehealth brand can advertise prescription treatment or take card payments. Tessic prepares and files the application as part of setup.

  • Subscription billing

The Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act requires the recurring price and terms to be clear before checkout, the buyer's express consent to the charge, and a simple way to cancel.

  • Health data and ad pixels

Tracking pixels that pass health information to ad platforms have drawn FTC and HHS enforcement. Conversion tracking on a clinic site has to keep intake answers and diagnoses out of what reaches Meta and Google.

  • Proof behind every claim

The FTC expects competent and reliable scientific evidence behind health claims, and testimonials have to reflect what typical patients experience.

Rules checked September 2026. A planning summary, not legal advice. Rules change, LegitScript sets its own review schedule, and certification is never guaranteed. The brand's own counsel should review its marketing before launch.

LAUNCH TIMELINE

How fast your clinic opens

Hair brands open fast: the visit runs on photos, the medications ship at room temperature, and there are no labs to wait on.

  1. Day 0

    Discovery call

The brand picks its treatments, price points and launch states, including whether to offer a women's program.

  2. Days 1-3

    Clinic build

Providers are credentialed under the brand, the photo intake is loaded, and the storefront goes up. Tessic prepares the LegitScript application.

  3. Days 3-5

    Pharmacy and test orders

Generic and compounding routes are connected, and test orders run from photo intake to a delivered prescription.

  4. Days 5-7

    First patients

The clinic opens to patients from the brand's own channels, with photo check-ins scheduled from the first order.

  5. After certification

    Paid ads

Once LegitScript certification clears, campaigns can run within each platform's rules on results imagery.

Timelines assume the brand's name, domain and pricing are ready at the discovery call.

Illustrative only, not a quote or a forecast. The brand sets its own prices; lines marked assumed are sample costs, and the real pharmacy invoice passes through at 0% markup. Contribution is before marketing, the monthly platform fee and taxes. The comparison model applies a 30% medication markup and a 10% revenue share, within the range commonly seen in white-label agreements.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about launching a hair growth brand

  • Most do not. Providers review scalp photos and history from the intake, and they switch to video where state rules or the patient's history call for it.

  • Yes, as a compounded prescription from a 503A pharmacy, labeled clearly as not FDA-approved. FDA has issued an alert on compounded topical finasteride, so the intake presents its risks and the provider documents the reason for choosing it.

  • Yes. Women are treated for female pattern hair loss with options such as spironolactone and minoxidil. Finasteride and dutasteride are not prescribed to women who are or may become pregnant.

  • Usually several months, which is why photo check-ins run at about three, six and twelve months. Ads and onboarding should set that expectation.

  • The plan's flat monthly fee, $25 per completed consult, and nothing on the medication. Most hair patients need one consult a year, so Tessic's fee on a long-term patient stays small.
